outfit post: white sweater dress with gold buttons, two tone flats

I had a company work conference in Las Vegas in January and I was at such a loss for what to wear/pack. 

I was especially struggling with what to wear to semi-social work events. The first night was a welcome mixer in the evening. I would be interacting with coworkers and bosses who I rarely see as a remote employee, plus we're a tech company, plus it's Las Vegas, plus evening 'mixer'... very confused.

My bestie, super fancy dean/professor, sent me a link to this Amazon dress. It's a sweater dress (stretchy!) and while it's quite inexpensive - I got so many compliments! And the icing on the cake was when a high up Executive lady leaned over and said, "I love your dress... is it St. John?"

I don’t travel for work very often anymore - but I’m heading to an internal company meeting in Newport Beach in a few weeks — which means figuring out what to wear to an event that will have a mix of dressed up account/sales guys and casual engineers and consultants. I'm tying to land somewhere in the middle - put together but comfortable. Picked up this sweater during Ann Taylor’s 50% off everything sale (this weekend!) and it’s exactly the kind of vibe — structured but soft, professsional but easy.
