Totally random aside - spent last weekend at the beach with Skylar, Hubs and Hub's brother's family for Easter. It was a great weekend of family, pool, beach and yummy seafood. Skylar loooooved the beach and the water and I can't help but share two cute snaps I took of the little cutie patootie.

outfit post: white cardigan, white tie neck blouse, teal midi skirt, nude pumps

Inspiration - Dainty and Decadent

Maria at Dainty & Decadent is one of my absolute favorite outfit bloggers. (She's currently blogging adorable maternity wear!) I get so much inspiration from reading her blog. I like her fun use of color & print and her attention to clothing cut & fit. And just her really great ability to put together good outfits. Feeling springy in my teal midi skirt inspired by one of her old posts. (It's also super cool because I started following her blog for quite awhile before realizing we went to the same high-school.)

This tie-neck blouse is one of my all time favorite blouses. Having the tie-neck detail makes for adding some easy interest in the outfit without having to figure out jewelry. Put together a graphic below with 14 outfits wearing this top. (And previous outfits with this skirt here.)

outfit post: pink cardigan, white lace top, grey pencil skirt, snakeskin pumps

Inspiration - Net-a-Porter

As I've lost a few more pounds over the past few months - I am fitting into the majority of my 'normal' sized wardrobe. While it's very exciting to get to wear a bunch of things that I haven't been able to over the past two years - it has been confusing process to get dressed in the morning. I've had to try on piece after piece of clothing to figure out what has gotten too big, what has newly started to fit again and what is still too small. It's like, "will it fit?" roulette. Not a fun game first thing in the morning!

So slowly but surely (y'know in all the free time I keep talking about! hardy har har!) I am gathering one type of clothing at a time (jeans, work pants, skirts or whatever) from all the corners of the house (my closet, too-small-while-I'm-pregnant tupperware in the garage, dresser in the guest room, etc) and trying them all on start to finish. I just figured out I own 5 different sizes of work pants plus maternity ones! Holy cow.

To sort things out I made five piles and have been one by one categorizing each piece: maternity, too big, fits me now, should fit really soon and unusually skinny. Only "fits me now" and "should fit really soon" go back into my normal closet. And the other sizes go into storage or donate. Hopefully this will make getting dressed a lot easier every day.

outfit post: pink sweater, white distressed jeans, brown wedges

Inspiration - Grace & Beauty

Today's outfit is inspired by the super cute Cyndi Spivey at Grace & Beauty. I love her classic style with small trendy accents that keep her looks current & modern. Right now she's doing a 27 Days of Spring outfit series and I am pinning basically everything she posts. Love!

Second I am IN LOVE with these wedges! (Thanks to a reader recommendation I found them at Lord & Taylor and they are a super close knock off to the Stuart Weitzman wedges Kate Middleton always wears.

outfit post: pink button shirt, black cropped pant, snakeskin pumps

Inspiration - Net-a-Porter

In further exploration of the back of my closet I pulled out this button up top from Banana Republic that I bought around 2005. It definitely has a very slim fit cut, compared to the more trendy blousey silhouettes of shirts in stores, which might slightly date it as being 10 years old. But I've been eating my veggies and running around a lot these past few months so the fact that I fit this shirt for the first time in over two years is reason enough to wear it!

outfit post: blue/grey fringe trim cardigan, blue sheath dress, grey pointed toe pumps

Inspiration - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

I wore this outfit to feel super professional while I was cranking out a pile of work this week. The dress is stretchy and the 'jacket' is really a cardigan - so while the end result looks a little buttoned up - it is actually a pretty great outfit comfort-wise. I'm sure all the status reports and project plans and excel spreadsheets appreciated my dressed-for-success strategy! :P

Hopefully things will slow down through the end of this month and I can catch my breath and actually get six posts a week up... that is before my next two project trips in April.

outfit post: striped sleeveless blouse, navy pencil skirt, brown loafer pumps

Inspiration - Taylor Swift

It's been lovely and warm (high 80s!) here in Florida this past week. And I am quickly reminded of the eternal summer conundrum - fry an egg hot on the outside but icy cold a/c in my office.

This outfit was my attempt at a solution - a long-ish skirt and pumps (somewhat warm) with a sleeveless lightweight top (easy breezy cool). And I brought a nice fluffy warm cardigan to keep at my desk.

outfit post: grey sweater, orange pencil skirt, snakeskin pumps

Inspiration - Kim Kardashian

Fun Friday outfit! Bright skirt with neutral top and print shoes. I have this skirt in both orange and aqua and love how it has a conservative shape but adds super fun colors to my outfits.

So super excited for this weekend! I am headed towards the coast to spend the weekend with my two college roommates M & S and their FIVE kids under 6. Their husbands are best friends and headed to a beer festival so we've decided to make it a girls/kids weekend and pile everyone (three boys, twin girls and Skylar) into M's super kid friendly house near the beach. I've been looking forward to this for weeks - they are two of my favorite people and we don't see each other nearly enough. As to how much catching up we can do with six kids and only three adults... TBD! Can't wait!

outfit post: blue tie-neck blouse with vest, black pants, black pumps

Inspiration - Alice + Olivia via Neiman Marcus

This one piece shirt-vest is super duper old. I think I got it around 2004 when I first started interning at a tech company and needed grown up clothes. It is the trend where there is actually no shirt under the vest - just fabric sewn in at the sleeves and the neck. It has been hanging in the back of my closet for a really long time unworn. So in an effort to clean out my closet a bit - I'm trying wear things or get rid of them and this made it into the wear again pile.

outfit post: purple cropped ankle pants, chambray shirt, grey sweater, burgundy pumps

Inspiration - Loft

I'm sort of obsessed with this outfit. I feel professional, fashionable and cool at the same time. Beautiful weather plus a fun outfit means I've got outfit induced pep in my step.

Hopefully that pep translates into some mega motivation for updating a zillion project plans, status report and data import spreadsheets... oh work, why do you keep me so busy?

outfit post: brown leather jacket, navy t-shirt, skinny jeans, ankle boots

    Inspiration - Reese Witherspoon

Lately both the Hubs and I have been in full throttle modes at our respective jobs. Because our schedules are so different, we have been like two ships passing in the night. Or rather like one ship finding the other ship asleep on the couch because they were trying to stay up to see the first ship at least once this week... or something like that.

So even though I just wanted to crawl into bed at 7 pm on Friday night and see how long I could look at the back of my eyelids - I rounded up a babysitter to come after Skylar went down for the night and tried to make myself half presentable for a grown up dinner date with the hubs. Jeans and t-shirt were worn for comfort and then a jacket and fun scarf were added to jazz up the outfit.

The lovely evening of yummy food and pleasant conversation was just the thing to transition from the hectic work week into a nice uneventful and hopefully lazy weekend.

    outfit posts: march window shopping

Random things I've come across and wish would appear in my closet. Less of a practical-and-likely-to-buy list and more of a this-stuff-is-pretty list...

1.1 - This pink dress is adorable.
1.2 - A white peasant blouse is always great for spring/summer.
1.3 - Cute gold sandals. Wish I was headed to the beach.
2.1 - How pretty is this floral maxi dress? Perfect for spring weddings & babyshowers.
2.2 - Of course a fun pink purse would go great with the fun pink check dress!
2.3 - A great fitting green t-shirt to throw on with jeans and shorts.
3.1 - I really want to find a good flattering wide brimmed straw sun hat for this summer. This one is pretty cute!
    3.2 - Pretty sparkly necklace.
3.3 - Although I think my closet is currently at dress maximum - I just love the navy & white floral print on this dress. With a yellow cardigan for work? So cute.

outfit post: purple sleeveless floral ponte dress, white cardigan, nude wedges

    Inspiration - Taylor Swift

We have had lovely lovely weather this week. Warm sunny spring days call for a fun floral print dress and coordinating cardigan. Now if only I wasn't trapped in front of a computer monitor for 10 hours a day...

outfit post: blue cardigan, mosaic full skirt, grey pointed toe pumps

Inspiration - Queen Letizia of Spain

This outfit was my back up outfit for the conference is San Antonio. I didn't end up wearing it at the conference but packed it as an alternate outfit in my suitcase in case of who knows what. Instead I wore this last Monday and felt really happy in it all day. Work has been super busy lately and it's nice to feel like I look professional and good at my job even when mentally I feel like I'm drowning.

I really like this cardigan from Loft (on sale) because the material and weight and quality of the fabric seem a step above a lot of my other cardigans. I have quite a few inexpensive fun colored cardigans from Target and Old Navy and I like them fine for day to day wear but compared to this one - you can tell they are a step lower in quality. I am considering picking up the lemon (mustard) and pink versions as well.

outfit post: blue/grey fringe trim cardigan, white shell, navy pants, grey pointed toe pumps

    Inspiration - Loft

To continue catching up on outfits I wore to my work conference in San Antonio - here is my outfit from the second day of the event.

I'm not a huge blazer wearer unless I absolutely have to - so for the second day I wore a fringe trim cardigan that almost passes for a jacket. (First day outfit here.) The description from the Loft site says, "Just tailored enough, this fringed knit pulls your look together with playful polish." It reminds me of the cardigan version of a Chanel style jacket which is the perfect amount of fashion & business mix I wanted to portray.

It was a long day of keynote speeches, breakout sessions, mixing with colleagues and a late team dinner. But I was happy to see that when I got back to my hotel room 14 hours later - the outfit held up pretty well and my clothes didn't look all rumply and disheveled. Although, my face was another story... :P
