outfit post: blue striped ponte dress, jean jacket, ankle boots

Inspiration - Jamie Chung

I wore this outfit to head to the local pumpkin patch last Sunday. Propped the kid up on a few and took the standard post-to-social-media, "Hey it's fall! Look at my offspring next to a pumpkin." picture. And as flippant as I wanted to feel about the fact I did the ubiquitous photoshoot along with everybody else ever - the munchkin looks freaking adorable with that pumpkin and I love it. (Pix below.)

outfit post: coral blazer, white shell, black dress pants

Inspiration - Rebecca Romijn

How about a new feature - blazer Monday?

Getting back into the swing of things today. I was on vacation last week (Spain! With an 8 month old!) and all the blog posts were scheduled. I will try to take pictures of some of the outfits I wore while traveling to share with you next week.

While I was at the airport about to fly out - I got a message on Facebook that someone couldn't get to the blog. I tried myself and the site was down! Turned out that my credit card information for the Outfit Posts domain (from four years ago) had expired and when the renewal didn't go through it brought down the site. Ack. But things got corrected and should be okay now. *Fingers crossed.*

outfit posts: recent shopping purchases - september/october

As I've lost a little more of the baby weight I am feeling more comfortable going out and buying things in close to my previous 'normal' size. When I count back through the pregnancy months - I haven't been able to buy 'normal' clothes in almost a year! Nuts! So I've had a bit of fun shopping over the past few months and this post is a rundown of things that I bought:

1.  Pink bow blouse
I love bow blouses just about as much as I love striped shirts and cardigans - which is to say forever and ever with all my heart. So when I saw this pretty pale pink one at Target I had no other choice but to bring it home with  me. So pretty & ladylike!
2. Printed skirt
I was super excited by how flattering this skirt was when I tried it on. It just feels pretty. And it has a ton of great colors to mix & match with cardigans and blouses. Love!
3. Two tops that flow away from my mid-section -
Because I'm nursing - I still have a huge rack - and my mid-section isn't quite where is used to be - so I've found that all the shirts I've purchased have been lightweight, non-wrinkle, flowy shirts. I liked that style of shirts before my body created a tiny human so they should stay in the rotation going forward regardless of what size I end up at.
4. Fun dresses -
It's technically Fall in Florida but our temperatures will tell you otherwise. So I've picked up a few inexpensive dresses from Old Navy in pretty fall colors. That way I feel in the season but don't sweat to death. And I also found a nice heavy weight good quality black sweater dress from Ann Taylor for actual cooler weather.
5. Flats
I bought a pair of black Tory Burch ballet flats three years ago. They were my first pair of shoes that cost that much. I wore them multiples times a week to work, play and travel. I wore them so much that I wore a hole through the heel on one shoe and the toe on the other. I always chose to wear them over all the rest of my flats sitting in my closet. So, since the pair I had were on their last leg, I decided to suck it up and replace the black pair and invest in a brown pair as well. It was a little pricey but if I get the same number of wears out of these two pairs the cost per wear will be reasonable enough to me to justify spending so much.

outfit post: pink bow blouse, purple ankle pants, nude wedges

Inspiration - Loft

I don't very often dress in head-to-toe shades of the same color but I'm into this look. Pinks and berrys are making me happy these days so the more the merrier!

I love an all neutral outfit with a fun spot of color! And this blazer is jersey which basically means I look professional while wearing a sweatshirt. Win!

outfit post: orange & blue ribbons sheath dress

    Inspiration - Katherine Way

I love football season in our town. I love friends who visit and tailgating and eating yummy food and watching lots and lots of football.

I tend toward dressing up a bit for gamedays and was super excited to find this dress at a little boutique. It has stretchy material on the sturdier/heavier side that doesn't cling to your lumps & bumps at all. Mom belly approved.

outfit post: polka-dot portofino tank, blank ankle pants, black pumps

    Inspiration - Michelle Williams

I read a lot of blogs and in that mix there are a good number of fashion ones that I read via Instagram. Over the weekend I came across an article about how Barbie has a fashion Instagram and when I checked it out it cracked me up because of how awesome it is. It nails the fashion blogger Instagram perfectly. Makes me sort of wish she was real! :)

So much to do this week! I have to get work sorted out and kid & myself packed up because I am leaving Friday on vacation to meet up with my scientist bestie who is presenting at an evil genius conference in SPAIN! So excited for bestie time!

outfit post: red windowpane blouse, black ankle pants, black bow toed flats

    Inspiration - Reese Witherspoon

Wore this outfit last Tuesday to Jr. League dinner meeting after work. Felt spiffy because this outfit had both a new top and fun new bow flats.

The top is from Target that I picked up on impulse. And the shoes are replacement for my other black Tory Burch flats that I have worn so much over the past three years that I wore a hole in the sole. Think the toe bows are a cute update to the gold TB logo on my other pair. Yay new shoes!

outfit post: shopping for snakeskin pumps

Random post today - How I shop for a specific item:
The item that spurred this post is my current hunt for a pair of snakeskin pumps. I have a bunch of cute Pinterest outfits saved that have snakeskin shoes but when I've tried to recreate them with the leopard flats I currently have - they just haven't looked as good.

So I have 'snakeskin pumps' on my mental list of things I'd like to add to my wardrobe. I thought I'd share one of the methods I use when I'm interested in searching for and buying a wishlist items. Read on for the steps below!

(This is not a sponsored post. This is one of the ways I actually shop for things. But because I do all my blog links through ShopStyle I do get a bonus if you download the app using my link.)

     1. Open ShopStyle App on my phone

    2. Type in "Snake" into the search bar. (Trying to keep the search general so I will get the most results.)

    3. Hit "Refine" to narrow down my results.

    4. In the Refine menu - choose "Women" > "Shoes" > "Pumps." (Many times I will also reduce the price, store and color in this menu.) Hit "Apply."

    5. Hit "Sort" and then have results returned by "Lowest Price" so I can see the less expensive options first!

    6. Scroll through the results clicking the heart on any pair that I think are cute and a reasonable price.

    7. Go to the "Favorites" menu (bottom center button) and decide between the pairs I've tagged which ones are my top few favorites.

    8. Click into my top few favorites and use the "Sale Alert" button to send me an email when they are discounted. (In this case I can see that they are already on sale - so I can use the Buy Now button if I'm ready to pull the trigger.)

I like using this app because it consolidates a gazillion stores into one searchable location. Sorta like Kayak does for airline tickets. And since there is no way I can keep up with all the off and on sales that stores have every other week - getting the automatic notification when the one specific thing I want is on sale is super helpful.

So now the hard part is my deciding between all the cute pairs of pumps I found!

(The ShopStyle app can be download here.)

outfit post: pink tie-neck blouse, navy and pink mosaic full skirt, grey pointed toe heels

    Inspiration - Natan

Ordered this skirt from Ann Taylor online without trying it on and I can't believe how much I love it! It is non-wrinkly and pleated (without adding bulk around the hips) and swings very jauntily as you walk. And it has so many pretty colors in the print - navy and teal and pale pink... Makes me want to spin and swish around. Hee hee not very computer nerd office behavior!
