Inspiration - Kate Bosworth

Oh jean jacket - I love you so. Below are a bunch of different ways I've worn a jean jacket over the past few years. Such a great casual closet staple!

outfit post: maroon camp shirt, white midi skirt, burgundy pointed toe pumps

Inspiration - Victoria Beckham

Who's got two thumbs, a blog and has posted three days in a row? ... this girl! *Gesturing to self.* :)

I like how matchy-matchy my shirt and heels are with the bright contrast of white in the middle. Thanks Posh Spice for the color inspiration!

outfit post: berry ruffle trim shell, tan pants, burgundy pointed toe pumps

Inspiration - White House Black Market

Simple outfit. Love love love this top. Flowy and non-wrinkly and pretty pretty color. Thanks Memorial Day sales at Loft! (Picked up quite a few things via online shopping this weekend - will do a round up once some of them arrive in the mail!)

Goals - Week 12 update:
  1. Start eating healthier & walking lots -
    • Eating healthier - Pretty great week! Did a really good job of prepping lots of food on Sunday and just eating those meals all week. It was brainless autopilot and successful! (Helped that hubby was traveling and I didn't have to factor in his picky eating or weird work schedule to what I had for dinner.)
    • Exercising:  5 days of 10K steps. No other workouts. Need to get some weightlifting into my schedule!
    • Weight: Just crossed into a new 10 lb range of weight! Finally seeing a new middle number in my weight is exciting - I feel like I was bobbing around in the last 10 lb range for  such a long time. It feels great to be in the next range down. And that means I'm almost half way through my 33 lb loss goal. Yippee!
      • Weight lost this week - loss 2.2 lb
      • Total weight lost - 14.2 lbs (39.2 lbs since my top pregnancy weight!)
      • 18.8 to go
  2. Post at least 3x a week-
    • Post 3x: 3 posts. Success. Since I'm starting to get my groove - I think this goal will be upped for next week to 4x a week!

outfit post: teal crepe blouse, jean jacket, burgundy frond pencil skirt

Inspiration - Mix & Match Fashion

Another cute blogger, Tara at Mix & Match Fashion, gave me inspiration for my fun frond skirt. Love the idea of mixing in the teal top, a totally different color than the burgundy of the skirt, and keeping jacket & shoes neutral.

outfit post: pink portofino shirt, striped jersey pencil skirt, white pointed toe pumps

Inspiration - Pink Sole

I got the inspiration for this outfit from the adorable Rachelle at Pink Sole. She is one of my favorite bloggers because she puts together awesome work-wear outfits I wouldn't have thought of with what turns out to be pieces I already own. And she does a great feature of 20 pieces making 20 outfits. Super cute!

When I copy outfits - they are usually in the same ballpark as the original inspiration - but this one is super identical to Rachelle's. We both own striped jersey skirts from Old Navy and share a LOVE for Express' Portofino shirts. (They are really the BEST. They look nice, fit well, don't wrinkle, can be dressy or casual and come in a bazillion colors. Perfect shirt!) This outfit is fun and colorful and makes me happy heading into a long holiday weekend. Love love love!

outfit post: mint sweater, tan pants, burgundy pointed toe pumps

Inspiration - Taylor Swift

These pants are as basic as colors get but for some reason I seem to forget what 'goes' with tan/beige pants and they go unworn for long periods of time. I poked through my flipcard view and here are all the ways I've worn them on the blog. I definitely need to pull them out more!

Goals - Week 11 update:
  1. Start eating healthier & walking lots -
    • Eating healthier - Pretty good week - didn't eat any major junk - just a few mini reese's peanut butter cups out of the office candy bowl. I've been asked a few times what I've been eating so below is what I ate yesterday - which was a pretty typical 'good' day:
      • Breakfast: 2 overeasy eggs on top of quinoa, orange
      • Snack: Apple with sliced cheddar cheese
      • Lunch: Turkey Meatloaf leftovers, frozen mixed veggies
      • Snack: Starbucks skinny vanilla latte
      • Dinner: Southwest eggrolls (Baked corn, spinach & black bean eggroll - I used less cheese)
    • Exercising:  Exercised 4 days.
    • Weight:
      • Weight lost this week - loss 1 lb
      • Total weight lost - 12 lbs
      • 21.0 to go
  2. Post at least 3x a week-
    • Post 3x: 5 posts counting last Wednesday. Success!

outfit post: white midi skirt, grey cardigan, nude wedges, cobalt blue pendant necklace

Inspiration - Hilary Duff

Two of my favorite bloggers inspired the purchases in this outfit. Audrey from Putting Me Together wore her new white jersey skirt from Asos and Maria from Dainty & Decadent has been wearing her new Kendra Scott necklace often -- and I loved both so much that I bought one of each for myself. Yay fun!

The white skirt is soft, stretchy, and comfortable (although I had to buy a slip to wear with it because it was slightly see through) and will be a great summer staple. And the only issue with buying the necklace was narrowing down what color to purchase since I wanted every single one!

outfit posts: postpartum purchases

While I've been complaining a lot about feeling like I have nothing to wear - looking at my 'fits me postpartum' section of my closet - I've actually made quite a few purchases over the past 3.5 months. I decided to round them all up and share them with you guys.

Putting them all together in a graphic shows me that while I have done some shopping for stuff to fit me at my current size - it's been mostly for very casual clothing. Which makes sense because for the first three months after baby I was home getting barfed on and not headed into an office.

Here's a rundown of things that I bought:

1. Tops that flow away from my mid-section -
I have a bunch of maternity tops that I wore while I was pregnant and they had great details like ties & ruching for showing off the bump. But postpartum, I still have a 4 month bump and no longer want to emphasize it. So I've slowly been picking up a series of tops that have leeway around the midsection.
2. Non-maternity jeans -
About a month in the full belly coverage maternity pants all started moving around on me because I was no longer pregnant. But my 'normal' sized jeans are still just a tiny dream to being worn. So I bought three pairs of pants at Target to hold me over during this middle sized phase.
3. Easy dresses -
Found a boho trapeze shaped dress at Target and bought it in an XL. I basically started living in it because I love it so much. So I went online and bought it in blue floral as well. Love love love.
4.  Vacation clothes -
My last week of maternity leave we went on vacation to the Bahamas. All my normal beach gear was so tight. I decided to treat myself and buy a maxi dress and fun tunic from Lilly Pulitzer so I would have festive things I felt good in while celebrating my last week of time off.
5. Pencil skirt -
Really missing my work skirts. Bit the bullet and bought a pencil skirt from Loft in a fun frond pattern.
6. Fancy diaper bags -
Because this kid and all her assorted supplies will be getting hauled around with me for the next 18 years or so - I decided to splurge on the fancy pants diaper bags. (Yay for being stylish while cleaning up a diaper blowout!) I bought the small and large sized nylon Marc Jacobs bag in a green color so that it (hopefully) won't show dirt/wear and will go with both black and brown. (The color is called 'dirty martini' - um, awesome!) I use the smaller one for short trips & errands and tuck the small one inside the larger one for being out of the house all day or overnight.

**Made two graphics - one called 'recent purchases' and the other called 'postpartum purchases' so they could be pinned based on preference.**  :)

outfit post: burgundy frond pencil skirt, white sweater, burgundy pointed toe pumps

Inspiration - Loft

I stopped into Loft a few days ago and bought this fun print skirt. Postpartum I have been missing all my pencil skirts from my 'normal' sized wardrobe so I decided to pick up this one in my current size. I love the color & fun print. I think the skirt will do well all year long because the frond print says summer but the burgundy color could read winter. Yayyy for a getting to wear a pencil skirt!

outfit post: gold patterned blouse, black ankle pants, black pumps

Inspiration - Versace

As I was getting dressed, I was SO TIRED of all the tops I've had on constant rotation these past three weeks I've been back at work, so I was digging around trying to find some top in my closet that I can wear at my current larger size. I found this silky Loft shirt that I wore a ton about two years ago. I thought it looked okay when I got dressed but then I caught a glance of myself on a mid-morning walk to Starbucks and realized that I needed to stand up very straight in order for it not to pull around my midsection. (I am standing up straight in the photo above and sucking in a little so it doesn't look as tight as the reflection I saw.) I hate when you feel good leaving then house and then realize something about the outfit annoys you just a few hours into the day. Blerg.

Goals - Week 10 update:

  1. Start eating healthier & walking lots -
    • Eating healthier & exercising:  I did much much better this week. I just focused on moving around more and crossed 10K steps 6 out of 7 days. I also paid attention to eating fruits, veggies and lean meats and was proud of myself for not diving into all the fun pastries and chocolates that were out and about mother's day weekend. Few more weeks like this and it'll be some real progress! :)
    • Weight:
      • Weight lost this week - loss 1.4 lb
      • Total weight lost - 11 lbs
      • 22.0 to go
  2. Post at least 3x a week-
    • Post 3x: Success! (Feel like super success because spring 8x8 had EIGHT outfits - woo hoo mee!)

outfit post: blue print blouse, skinny jeans, brown wedge sandals

I wore this for super casual Friday at the office last week. Don't know what's up with the wrinkles in my jeans - I thought they looked fine when I was wearing them. :)

most popular clothing clicks - april

Because I use affiliate links on this site (I get a few cents each time you guys click a shopping link) I am able to see a dashboard of what items were the most clicked on each week/month. I think it's really interesting to see which clothing links you guys are engaged by and click a bunch. And then compare those to which ones you decide to pass over. Here's the most clicked items for April.

outfit post: spring 8x8 - 8 pieces - 8 outfits

The idea of this post is to show 8 outfits created from 8 pieces (counting shoes!) to help me to stretch my brain for different & new ways to wear the small number of items I currently fit into postpartum. Below you'll find my eight clothing pieces with affiliate shopping links and eight outfits I put together. (Bonus 9th outfit was on blog last week with same pieces too.)

(I originally got the idea from Audrey at Putting Me Together - one of my most favoritist blogs ever - who has hosted fun 7x7 remix challenges in the past.)
