Guest outfit post - sister week: military jacket, chambray shirt, striped tee, black flats

Inspiration -Pinterest

So this may be a little out of season but I'm moving from Florida to Ohio for my job and I'm thinking about the pieces I already own that I will be able to layer for some more warmth. This may not suffice in the dead of winter, but it will definitely help me while transitioning.

Guest outfit post - sister week: grey sweater, white pants, flip flops

Inspiration -Lauren Conrad

Lauren Conrad always looks beachy casual when she's running her errands. This sweater reminded me of something she would wear because it's so cozy and soft with just a tad more structure. I like the structure because it can double as a work sweater.

Guest outfit post - sister week: striped tee, crop pants, brown heels

Inspiration -Poor Little It Girl
I recently bought these crop pants for work and am excited to play around with them in less work-y looks. Having wardrobe pieces that can transfer from dressy to casual is going to be key for me as I'm trying to build my new "adult wardrobe" on a budget. I imagine myself running errands around the city in this look, but realistically I would never run errands in shoes this high unless I really wanted to punish myself.

thailand outfit post: blue print tank, green khaki shorts, brown sandals

Inspiration - Rachel Bilson

I wore this outfit for walking around exploring our hotel, browsing Patong's shops, searching for something fun for dinner and surviving the heat. Our hotel was super cool jungle boutique hotel call Burasari Resort. It had the most beautiful plants and little Buddha statues tucked into every imaginable corner. So pretty!

(I couldn't find a very close inspiration photo so I'm going to pretend this one matches.)

thailand outfit post: tribal maxi dress, browns sandals

Inspiration - Alessandra Ambrosio

I wore this strapless tribal dress many of the nights we went out in Patong. It's hot and dirty and almost all the bars are outside without a/c so re-wearing this dress 5-6 times wasn't a big deal.

One night we bought sky lanterns on the beach. We lit them and despite quite a bit of wind finally got them into the air. So pretty.

thailand outfit post: pink strapless ruffle swim coverup, black triangle bikini, sandals

Inspiration - Miranda Kerr

Staying at the beach in super hot & humid weather meant lots and lots and lots of time in my swimsuit & coverup. This is the one I wore the most.

One of the best days of the whole trip was when we took a boat tour through the Pi Pi islands. We saw the most beautiful blue water and amazing limestone rocks jutting out of the ocean. Exactly the picturesque views you would see on a postcard for Thailand.

Our tour went to Ko Pi Pi Lee best known for Leonardo DiCaprio filming The Beach, Pi Pi Don for snorkeling, Monkey Beach where we fed the cutest monkeys bananas and finally relaxed & swam at Mu Koh Pi Pi National Park. It was an absolutely fantastic day and I took one billion photos.

thailand outfit post: yellow tropical print tank, green khaki shorts, sandals

Inspiration - Asos

After four days in Bangkok we took a short flight down to the island of Phuket where we stayed in a place called Patong Beach. It's an intense mix of beautiful natural scenery, miles of seedy shopping stalls, beautiful five star hotels and a mix of normal & sleazy nightlife. There were huge numbers of tourists from Europe, Australia & Asia and we were surprised when we were told it was actually the beginning of the slow season. I can't even imagine the busy season. Maybe I'd describe Patong as a little bit like Key West on crack? I think "intense" is the perfect word.

We did a bit of hotel jumping throughout the ten days we were there. The picture below is the patio of our room at the Millennium Resort. We had fancy pants 2 hour couple massage for about $60 US each. Um, yes. (Little massage places around town would have hour massages for about $9 US.) It was totally amazing.

One afternoon we decided to do a local elephant trek. It was so cool seeing such huge animals up close. We got to feed them lots of bananas and get a 'hug' from the baby. Too cool. Today's outfit is what I wore for the trek.
