outfit post: pink cardigan, print blouse, black pants

Inspiration - Ann Taylor Outlet Store

Here's the first post with the things I bought outlet shopping in Orlando. I purchased this blouse, cardigan and necklace. Pretty much exactly in-line with my typical print top + bright cardigan + neutral bottom "getting dressed for work for dummies" formula.

I initially tried this on with a skinny gold belt cinching the cardigan like the store inspiration photo but there was too much fabric bunching up all weird around my middle and the belt was running around my body - so I ditched it.

outfit post: blue sweater, teal necklace, grey pencil skirt

Inspiration - Talbots

I'm liking this blue on blue on grey combination. And this sweater makes me happy because it's really soft, warm and has elbow patches. What more could you ask for in a sweater? :)

outfit post: beige cardigan, yellow tank, print pencil skirt

Inspiration - Banana Republic

Super fun birthday weekend! Went to Halloween Horror nights with my husband, sister & her boyfriend. Had fun going through the haunted houses and riding the fun rides. (I totally decimated the hubby in Men in Black alien killing points!)

Stayed the weekend in Orlando (yay hotel points!) and we did a little outlet shopping on Saturday. I found a few cute things (more on what I bought tomorrow) but for the most part I wandered around the outlet mall feeling like I already own a bunch of nice clothes and most of the things I was drawn to were already represented in my closet in some way. I didn't feel very inspired by unique finds or that there were very many things I just had to bring home with me.

In the end, I basically just tried to be smart about what I frivolously through was cute versus what would add variety or fill gaps in my wardrobe. Which meant no more patterned pencil skirts or striped shirts. :)

In general, it's fun to browse at stores but I definitely always try to be aware of when I might just be shopping for shopping's sake.

outfit post: fall 8x7 - 8 pieces - 7 outfits

Over the summer Audrey at Putting Me Together (one of my favorite blogs ever) hosted a fun 7x7 remix challenge. The idea of the challenge is to show 7 outfits created from 7 pieces (counting shoes) to help you to stretch your ideas for different & new ways to wear a small number of items. I love the idea! I participated in Audrey's challenge with this post

I really get on streaks where I wear certain clothing items over and over. So instead of boring you with multiple almost-exactly-the-same outfit posts - I thought another fall themed 7x7 post would be a good solution! (Although, for this one I couldn't seem to limit myself to one pair of shoes - so it's technically a 8x7.)

outfit post: teal cardigan, dot blouse, grey wide legged pants

        Inspiration - Talbots

Really random "I'm going to tell you a story because I'm super proud of myself but this has zero to do with clothing" story time. I got on a little house fixer upper project kick this weekend. Our house was built in the early 80s and we mostly enter our house through a side door near the garage. On either side of the garage are these ugly tube shaped lights that get wet in the rain and therefore always burn out. When they are out it is pitch black in our driveway. So I got it in my mind it was time to replace them. I'm pretty handy around the house but electrical work always seems a little intimidating.

I went to Lowe's and bought two new wall lights that were shaped more like lanterns. Top on the fixture to keep the water out? Check! I don't know if I'm behind on lighting technology but the really basic models of outdoor lights have both light & motion sensitivity! They automatically turn on to a low setting at dusk and then if they detect motion - jump up to brighter setting. So cool.

Brought them home and after scraping my knuckles bloody loosening the rusted screws, discovering and running away like a crazy person from a wasp nest and installing the mounting plate on backwards - twice - I managed to get them up, wired, mounted and working! Yay me! Now there is a lovely welcoming glow when I pull up after a long day at work!

(I was so impressed by the light sensitivity technology being so cheap I order two $8 easy screw in light sensitive sockets for our front hanging porch light. Yay sensors!)

outfit post: green pattern crepe blouse, black pencil skirt, black pumps

Target strikes again! I went in to return the two shirts I mentioned:
And after I gave them back - I took a stroll through the clothing section and immediately found two shirts I was in love with!
They came home with me. Love.

outfit post: maroon sweater, black skinny jeans, black riding boots

How about a random & pretty funny throw back Saturday post? I was looking through the archives of my old (now defunct) blog and below is a post from 10/10/2006 about my newly purchased Target boots. Format look familiar? :)

Inspired by Banana Republic outfit but totally Target . . .

I couldn't wait to wear my new boots to the movies tonight! The FL weather was just cool enough to not be ridiculous wearing them.

When I initially tried the boots on with my everyday boot cut jeans I had to tuck and pull and wedge the extra fabric to be able to zip the boots. I decided that, even though I could never wear them with anything else (unless I wanted to be a huge ice cream cone of a silhouette), I was going to have to bite the bullet and buy skinny jeans. But right before we left for the movie - inspiration struck! My denim capris! Way less fabric! I tried it out and they worked perfectly!

I still think wearing skinny jeans without boots makes my body look like an ice cream cone. :)
