outfit post: black button top, purple cropped ankle pants, black pointed toe pumps

Inspiration - Alessandra Ambrosio

Randomness:
  • Wearing a new watch! -
    • Typically Husband and I aren't that big on giving gifts to each other for birthdays/holidays/anniversaries. Mostly we like to plan time together - especially time together traveling somewhere if possible - and make that our 'gift' for that occasion. But this weekend he surprised me with a super cool Link Bracelet Apple Watch for my birthday (which is not until October) because he knows I'm such a big Apple fanboy dork. (I may have camped out in front of stores overnight on a couple of occasions to be the first one to buy a new device...) It was such a sweet, thoughtful gift and I totally love it!
  • Weightloss update-
    • I have been struggling to make progress on my postpartum weight-loss for the past few months. I have a whole drawer of work pants that I still can't wear (I can at least get them on now but they are super inappropriately tight) but haven't been able to shake the last 12 lbs. to get into them. And I keep bouncing around the same 6 lbs -- up to +18 and then back to +12. Over and over. I know what I need to do (eat my veggies and move!) but I just keep losing my consistency in doing it.
  • Previous ways I've worn these purple/burgundy pants here.

  1. I had a baby last summer, and wasn't actually tracking weight or anything, but based on how clothes were fitting, I was still holding onto some weight going into January. Then our baby started daycare, and within about six weeks, the family had gone through two or three stomach bugs - and all my clothes fit again. So probably not the most ideal way to get back to your pre-baby weight, but don't worry if things are taking a while :-)

    1. Thanks for sharing. Seems like everyone has a variety of experiences losing baby weight - even sometimes the same person with multiple kids! I'm just doing what I can fit in reasonably and then giving myself slack for what I can't. :)

  2. I gained 50 pounds with my daughter. I started taking a product called Plexus after I had only lost 20 pounds in the first 6 months. Once I got on the product the other 30 came off by her 1st birthday and then another 10 after that. If your interested id love to tell you more.

    1. I'm hoping that it is partially that I'm still breastfeeding. Or maybe it's the Taco Bell? :)

  4. I know it isn't necessarily what you want to hear when you know the "number" and there are things you can't fit into - but I think you look great. A new baby, working full time, being a wife, and thinking about your own needs requires a huge balancing act. Keep working at it; know you look great in your photos, and forgive yourself when life doesn't make the weight-loss journey happen

    1. Thanks so much for the encouragement. You're totally right it's a balancing act! I'm just hoping slow & steady will eventually get me there - because buying a whole new professional wardrobe would be pricey! :)

  5. I am stalled at +5 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight and I am still a size larger in pants than I was before baby. I think clothes just fit differently now. Keep up the healthy lifestyle momma, you look great!

    1. Thanks for sharing! Yes. That whole "creating life" definitely rearranges what is normal for your body. :)

  6. I just purchased a pair of gray skinny pants over the weekend - from Sears, no less! - and they had some purple ones there too. I really liked them but mentally couldn't come up with anything I already own that I could wear them with. I don't have any tops like this (and it looks like Target is sold out of this one), but I'm really digging the purple + black combo!

  7. Hormones. I know everyone likes to hear the "breastfeeding burns calories!" mantra, but there is also science that says that the hormones that allow you to breastfeed also want your body to retain about an extra 10lbs of fat to power your milk supply. Google around a little and don't lose heart--sure you want your pants to fit, but you also want to be successful at work, a good wife, a great mama, and a food source for your kid. Fitting into old pants is just another item on your to do list at some point and you can't give everything top priority. Here's a quick article that summarizes the things I chose to take stock in http://www.grassfedmama.com/2014/06/30/losing-weight-breastfeeding/

    1. Thanks for sharing! Yes - I hope that hormones/breast feeding is part of the equation for what's going on. Slow & steady!
