outfit post: dot blouse, black pants, black wedges

Inspiration - Alicia Keys

I'm super tired of trying to find new ways to wear untucked shirts professionally. I miss the days of putting on a pencil skirt and tucking in a pretty blouse or button down shirt. But these days all my outfits are chosen to try to camouflage my postpartum mid-section. I don't like being limited to wearing a certain style every single day. It gets boring. So on that note...

Goals - Week 8 update:
  1. Start eating healthier & walking lots -
    • Eating healthier & exercising: I find that when I start trying to be consistent about eating healthy & working out - I do really great for about three weeks and then my motivation gets tired and I start to slack off. The times in my life that I've been most successful at getting fit has been when I've accepted the fourth week fatigue, eaten what I wanted and took it easy on the exercise for a few days. But then after the mental break recommitted myself to whatever plan I was following and dug back in for another three weeks.
    • This week was a slide back week. I had pizza and barbeque and ice cream and took it easy on the workouts. But after four days of slacking off - I was ready to get back to it on Monday. The past few days have been on point again. So for the week my weight change was basically a wash - didn't gain but didn't lose either.
    • Weight:
      • Weight lost this week - loss 0.2 lb
      • Total weight lost - 9.6 lbs
      • 23.4 to go!
  2. Post at least 3x a week-
    • Post 3x: Success!

  1. I feel your pain! My second little was born in December. I am down to my prebaby weight. But midsection is still not in shirt tucking shape! My first it took me over a year before i took control and got back in shape. You got this momma just give it some time!!!

    1. Thanks for the comment. It's nice to hear other people's experiences postpartum and know what I'm going through is not unique. :)

  2. This looks great, but I totally understand the frustration. Have you tried a post-partum belly binder or belly band? It definitely is just a camouflage, as it's basically a corset to the belly in, but they supposedly are helpful for helping your belly. If I can't hide my bump in a shirt (which is in almost every outfit) I put the binder on that I got at the hospital. I heard the Belly Bandit is really good, but there are lots of products out there.

    1. I haven't tried a belly binder. I thought they were for immediately postpartum? Do they still work 4 months later? I was thinking of getting some new good spanx?

    1. I'm most successful when I workout in the morning. My most typical schedule is to get up at 5:45 to nurse, then pump and then do a 30 minute workout DVD before the nanny arrives at 7:30. But if the morning workout doesn't happen I try to go for a long walk immediately after work. I get home, grab the kid, eat a snack and then head out the door with the jogging stroller...

  6. I am sure you have had lots of suggestions for workout programs. I can tell for me I has success doing bikini body mommy workout on YouTube. It is free. You only need 12-20 minutes a day and some hand weights. Sure it is challenging but it gets results! She is getting ready to start her 4.0 version on Monday. And if you have a accountability partner it helps. I lost my baby weight and then some.
