outfit post: pink buttondown shirt, bootcut jeans, black ballet flats

Inspiration - Katie Holmes

I bought two versions of this Express Portofino shirt last year (white and teal) and then midway through my pregnancy I bought two more (pink and dark blue) in a larger size because it's such a great shirt and I get so much wear out of them. I love them for both work and casual. Here are two previous outfits with the teal version:
On a mommy topic - I've gotten a couple questions about what diaper bag I've been using. I decided that since I would be carrying the bag all the time along with the tiny human to treat myself a bit and buy a fun bag. After poking around the internet I bought two sizes of the Marc Jacob Preppy Nylon Bags in Dirty Martini color. I pack the smaller one with the main essentials and use it by itself for quick trips to the grocery store or out to dinner. And then I use the bigger bag on for longer days out with additional supplies and tuck the smaller bag inside. It's been a pretty good system thus far.
Goals - Week 2 update:
  1. Start eating healthier & walking lots -
    • Eating healthier: Pretty good. Same as last week. I'm adding more fruits & veggies and trying to avoid fried junk food while still consciously making sure I have decent number of calories since I'm nursing.
    • Walking lots: Pretty good. Made 10K steps 5/7 days. (Listening to Wild on audiobook for my bookclub this month)
    • Weight:
      • Weight lost this week - 1 lb
      • Total weight lost - 1.5 lb
      • Yay. 31.5 to go. :)
  2. Post at least 3x a week-
    • Post 3x: Success!

  1. Guess what....
I have come up with the same baby diaper bags solution and in exact style! Using Nylon Natasha for quick pop-out and Elz bag for a day-out!! (Although I have more than just these two....)
    : )

  2. Great job with your goals! I had a baby 10 months ago, and your immediate postpartum wardrobe challenges are all too familiar - I also went to Target and bought a few temporary shirts that actually fit. Just within the last month I've gotten back to my pre-pregnancy weight and the stuff in my closet is back to fitting properly. Be kind to yourself if the baby lbs don't fall off as quickly as you want them to <--- exactly what my friends said to me when I was mad the excess weight didn't fall off in 6 weeks! :-)

    1. Thanks for sharing your experience. It makes me feel better that it takes everyone a little longer then they expect to get back to the new 'normal' after baby. Congrats on your little one! :)

  3. Getting back in shape after baby takes a while. Take it slow. It took 9 months to get there, give it another 9 months to go back. :)

  4. I love that portofino shirt, too. I have it in a dusty blue and want a couple more, but I'm trying to stick to a tight budget. I applied for a new job, though, and I might just have to splurge if I get an interview!

  6. Can I ask what size in this shirt you wore pre-pregnancy? I'm about the same size as you and I don't know what size to order.. I can do small or medium depending on the store.
It looks fabulous on you and I love the color!

    1. Pre-pregnancy I was a medium – this shirt is a large. :)
