outfit post: white puffer vest, white long sleeved shirt, black skinny jeans, brown riding boots

Inspiration - Lilly Pulitzer

I think puffer vests are so cute but they confuse me a little bit. When it's cold enough to wear a vest then I feel like its cold enough to want thick sleeves on my arms as well. But I see lots of cute outfits with light shirt layered under the puffer vest. I wore this on a day that went from chilly to quite warm and ended up removing the vest half-way through the day. Any thoughts on how to wear a vest like this and in what kind of temperature ranges?

  1. I wear these all the time when it is between 40-60 in Memphis (like today!). I often will start with a light jacket and take it off, ending with the shirt & vest only. It's enough to keep my core warm and the rest of me is happy when I'm moving around! Especially if it's nice & sunny out :)

  2. I also wear mine when it's around 50 degrees or so. I also recently wore one over a long-sleeved collared shirt, a sweater, and a blazer for when I was going to be going from outdoors to indoors and didn't want to cart around a coat. Worked perfectly!

  3. I agree, on a sunny 50s or 60s day its nice to have an extra layer but you don't want/need a full coat. Then again, in the winter, 50s is a celebration in Ohio but its a cold snap in FL ;-)

    1. Thanks! We get lots of 50s & 60s here so its really helpful to hear how everyone else wears them!

  4. Thank you for raising this question! My vest is down filled, which to me means cold weather, but then I also want multiple arm layers! I think the down vest might be too much in 50-60 degrees as others have suggested.

    1. Thanks for the feedback! I guess I'll do a bit of testing and see where I feel comfortable! :)

  5. My problem with puffer vests is they are so static-y! I have to wear with a ponytail, and even then the static drives me nuts.
