outfit post: navy side zipper sweater, grey pants, layered necklace

Inspiration - Ann Taylor

As I am getting assigned new projects at work the next five weeks are starting to look pretty crazy. It's not 100% confirmed but it looks likely I will be headed to Minneapolis next week, home for a week, Germany for two weeks, home for a week and then a long weekend ski trip (my second time skiing ever and husband's first!). Lots and lots of opportunities for packing/capsule guides!

This sweater was among the new things I purchased on Sunday. Love the cozy soft fabric and the side zipper detail. (Can't see zipper on me but you can see it in the Ann Taylor picture.) I feel like one of the boys in basic grey work pants and a dark sweater but then also pretty with sparkly necklace and pumps. :)

  2. Minneapolis! That's where I live and I'm looking forward to what kind of outfits you come up with. With the cold and snow, pumps and flats are basically out for the entire winter. I live in boots for months at a time!

    1. Good advice! I lived in DC but that doesn't compare to the SINGLE DIGIT temperatures I see in the forecast for next week. Not sure what I'm going to do! Eep!

  4. I love that you posted this today. I just got a new pair of grey dress pants last night and I never would've thought to pair it with navy. Thanks for the idea!

  5. Long time lurker, first time commenter here... Wow, sounds like you have a lot of travelling coming up over the next few weeks! Whereabouts in Germany are you headed? I'm from Germany, so I might be able to give you some tips for sightseeing etc if you have any time to spare.

  7. Thank you for the navy and grey suggestion! I received several navy sweaters for Christmas and thought that I would need to buy camel colored pants before I could wear them. But thanks to your idea, I got to wear one this week with grey pants. Never would have thought of that.

  8. I agree with Katherine, I'm looking forward to seeing your Minneapolis posts! I'm in Illinois where the frigid temps have made dressing professionally a challenge lately. Also, what do you think of the Editor pant? I hear good things about them but the price is a bit high for my grad-student budget. Do they seem to be well made and will last long?

    1. I love the editor pant but only because how they fit me. They just happen to fit my body better then Ann Taylor or Banana or wherever. I bought my first pair the week before I started my first job (9 years ago) and I remember dying over shelling out $80. But because I loved the fit and I wore that pair until they fell apart last year. So while I love them on me - I'd only recommend them if they fit you super great. Otherwise there are tons of different dress pants with different fits available. Hope this helps!
