(outfits 1-4) one suitcase: paris vacation capsule wardrobe

Post 2/7 - The purpose of the "One Suitcase" feature is to try to show you how you can pare down your packing list when you travel without sacrificing the number or variety of outfits you have for the range of activities your trip may entail. I have learned through trial and error (and the pain of lugging wayyy too big a suitcase) that by packing a few favorite & versatile pieces of clothing I can mix and match the items into a surprising number of outfit options. You just have to do a little planning up front. Hopefully the posts this week will show you my method and help you find the potential of the clothes you already have in your closet!

In case you missed - it the previous posts in the series can be found here:
Here are the first 4 outfits for the Paris Vacation made from the clothing pieces listed here:

I can't even tell you how glad I was during this trip to have packed lightly. I flew into Brussels (where my bestie's conference was occurring) and then we took the train from there into Paris. Just on the way to Paris - there were like three different train/subway platforms where either there wasn't an escalator or it was broken. I was soooo thankful I only had light carry-on to bring up the steps instead of lugging a giant heavy suitcase. Particularly thankful when our arriving train changed platforms at last minute and we had to dash down one set of stairs and right back up another to make our departure!

Outfit #1 is what I wore on the overnight flight from US to Europe. I wore the shirt and sweater plus I carried a jacket and a scarf over my arm which came in handy when the stewardess set the plane temperature to arctic. Here's a list what I had in my tote bag. (Tote bag is the bag I bring in addition to my rolling carry-on bag.) I'm working on a similar checklist for the miscellaneous stuff I packed for the trip that wasn't in my tote and isn't clothing that will be listed here in these One Suitcase outfit posts.
