outfit post: striped sweater, khaki shorts, navy boyfriend cardigan, pink boat shoes

Inspiration - Damsel in Dior

Spent the weekend in Boca Raton Florida with some of my besties from college for an amazing babyshower. My old roommate is having twin girls! We had such a fun time catching up, eating delicious food and ohhing and ahhing over lots of mini ruffly pink things. I wore my yellow floral maxi dress from Gap.

I posted a picture of us at the shower at the bottom of the post but I'm going to be a weirdo and hide our faces. I'm a little hesitation/cautious about putting too much information about myself out on the internet because I had a creepy experience with my first blog that I started back in 2004. I would post pictures of myself and tell stories about my daily life - including outfit recreations like this blog - but then a few years into writing I got a really weird series of emails from some man who said he worked at the University I was attending and had been researching me and now knew more about me then I was sharing. It had a super creepy stalker tone and I immediately moved my blog private and then eventually stopped posting because it wasn't as fun without the interactions with normal fun commenters/people.

I missed blogging but felt like after that creepy experience plus the fact I work in a computer industry I should try to keep my internet persona as inconspicuous as possible. Until last year when I had the fun idea to start this new headless blog! It's been really fun to have a blog again and the best part - so far it's stalker free! :)

  1. Such a shame you had such a nasty experience. I follow fashion blogs where they share a lot and then ones like yours that don't. I don't see anything wrong with either.

  2. Yay for no creepy stalkers! After an experience like that, I'd be hesitant too. I like reading about bloggers, but I totally get when they want to be anonymous too. Lots of weirdos out there!

I love this casual outfit. The pink boat shoes give it just the right amount of umph. I am especially in love with that Gap dress from your previous post. Because of your post on that dress, I went to Gap last week to try it on, but they didn't have my size. Boohoo. Maybe they'll get more in stock.

  3. Cute picture!

I 100% agree w/ not sharing a lot of info. on the internet. Even though I also like to read blogs where the person shares a lot, I'm always thinking in my head, "Isn't she worried that some serial killer or psycho is going to track her or her family down?" I've seen way too many CSI/ cold case shows, I guess! I figured I was just paranoid, but your story makes me pause. Very creepy!

  4. You ladies are all adorable! Love the casual outfit.

I can totally relate--I have been anonymous since I started my blog four years ago. There are some crazy people out there!

  5. That is crazy about the stalker! I can't even imagine.

Also, I never would have guessed you had such light hair! ha!

  6. Every once and awhile I think I should go private but like you said, I would miss the interactions with commenters.

That is one creepy situation! I don't blame you for going private.

I always pictured you as a brunette!

And I also ordered the yellow Gap dress but it didn't fit properly so I have to return it.

  7. Hi MJ, I found your blog this winter after having my first baby and I've been able to feel great in new outfits thanks to your inspiration! I've avoided the "mommy body changes blues"! I don't blame you in the least for being cautious with your personal details, in this day and age you have to be careful. I have a holistic healing business and my persona is very public but when I had my baby, I struggled with how much of that info to share with my clients/online followers simply because I know there are creeps out there. In the end, I didn't post that much, for the baby's safety. Anyway, please know that this Mommy really appreciates your blog! :)

  8. PS- Sorry for the name typo, I accidentally typed J instead of K!

  9. I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience the first time you had a blog. I was very nervous about posting my face on my blog as well, and I don't do it often. But hey, this is your blog, so if you don't want to post your face, then don't!

  10. Thanks for all the kind words! I think it's more normal now to have a blog and share things - so it's probably less of a big deal then it was seven years ago - but I appreciate everyone understanding my choice to be a headless body here! :)

(And I also appreciate being able to take the picture before I have any makeup done or when my hair is sopping wet. Hee hee.)

  11. I am in love with your site. Thank you so much! It is such a savior!!! I absolutely love all the one suitcase packing. I am going to redo my wardrobe for business attire. Also, i am thrilled and looking forward to pack for my upcoming cruise! Thank you! Thank you!!!
