outfit post: purple floral dress, red cardigan, red ballet flats

Inspiration - All the Pretty Birds

This inspiration photo is one of the first pins I ever pinned on Pinterest - way before I ever had this outfit blog. I just thought - wow - that purple dress looks exactly like that old weird gap dress I have in the back of my closet and never wear. Except at that time I didn't have red shoes or a red cardigan and my loose personal policy for this site is to not buy any clothing items just to match a photo - anything new must be for my normal life not for a photo opportunity. So, finally, two years later I now own a red cardigan and red shoes (both from Old Navy) and I was excited to be able to try this picture out!

Red ballet flats worn previously:
Grey sweater & boyfriend jeans
Navy knit sweater & cropped jeans

  1. Again I think your outfit is better. There is something about the change in the style of belt and the length of the dress that makes it much more acceptable to me.

  2. Length of your dress is way better. I think your cardigan is a bit long though. I also prefer the neckline of your dress. I'd maybe have added a necklace too (just a small, low-key one). I am necklace obsessed though. :)

  3. I would never in a million years think to pair purple and red together, but you look great!

  4. Adorable. Love it. Your outfit is much prettier than the picture.

  5. Holy cow...I just found your blog and I am obsessed. This outfit is cute, but I really am just commenting in general based on the last 48 hours that I have been stalking your blog. ;)

  6. Just found your blog....love it!

  7. Agree with others...yours is better.

  8. This is so cute! Love it.

  9. Wow! How cute! Looks just like the inspiration picture.

  10. Just wanted to say that I found your blog from a pin on pinterest, and now I'm enjoying looking at all of your outfits. You do a great job at putting things together!
