outfit posts: citron green sweater, grey 'editor' pants

Work has been so crazy lately. I am in a cycle of wake up, workworkworkwork, try to grab a few bites of lunch, workworkworkwork and then collapse at the end of the day. I'm struggling with keeping up with everything in my life - including putting an outfit post up here each day. So I apologize if I'm a terrible comment responder and what I write in each post is super brief and boring. I'm dreaming of how fun it would be to be independently wealthy where hobbies like this blog could be leisurely artistic activities and have more then 15 minutes of my attention per day! :)

Someone just added this blog to the Get Off My Internet forums. Hopefully if I find time this weekend I can respond to some of the suggestions and look for areas of improvement to make this site better!

  1. I've just discovered true site and think it's fabulous! Don't listen to the haters. You are a lifesaver for so many of us desperately trying to look put-together on a hectic schedule. Please know that you are appreciated!!!

  2. Wtf?????? I never even knew a site like that even existed! I'm speechless over here. Who has the time? Start your own blogs, you old harpies! Oy vey! Anyway, a couple things even though those comments don't deserve any consideration at all: I really really like that your site is clean and simple (apparently this is called 'generic' to some people). I find it refreshing to not have a zillion ads all over, tons of random buttons, illustrated graphics. On tumblr my fav. pages are the minimalist ones. Also, I searched through a ton of fashion blogs until I saw yours--I'm a normal person, I need someone who's wearing normal clothes to inspire me to put some outfits together! Thank you for having a real wardrobe!

  3. Hi there! I actually found your blog from the GOMI forum last night and I have to say most of the comments have been positive! I love your style and plan on using your suitcase series to kind of revamp my waredrobe! And the fact you said you are going to use the criticism in a positive was is fantastic! Thanks for inspiring me!! <3

  4. Absolutely love your blog. Your outfits are something real women can wear. Your outfits are well put together and you never look sloppy. Other people are always going to hate. Just rise up above it!

  5. I, for one, love and appreciate your blog. I am challenged in the "putting things together" department" and your blog has sparked creativity, ideas and a new love of stepping outside my box! Thank you for your efforts and don't let negativity get your down. There are a few sites I look at every day and yours is one of them. Keep on rocking! :-)

  6. I really like your blog. And I don't understand snark - if people don't like a person's style, or style of blog...the internet is a huuuuge place, so they could just go elsewhere to someone who appeals to them more?

I like your style of blog...it's really similar to mine, so obviously it appeals to me. I'm torn between headless and not headless....I find that headless gets you to focus on the outfit...and that's what this blog is about - outfits. I don't really love the blogs that have 17 different wide-aperture photos of the same outfit...it looks vain and self-obsessed. This is practical. I like it.

  7. "Start your own blog, you old harpies" - best comment ever! LOL

Yes, please don't take their comments into consideration. I love your format. You are putting together outfits that I could and will when I return to work this fall. Come to think of it, I'm wearing something moderately based off one of your outfits to go on a school field trip. My point is, you are accessible. The clothes you wear are from normal stores at the mall. I don't feel like I have to pretend to be someone I'm not to emulate your style. And yes, I believe its a style even if you are using inspiration from a lot of places to put your outfits together. Looking at the "in a bag" posts its really evident you have a very classic style that you tweak here & there with something fun but that doesn't distract from you.

Also, I don't care if you don't show your face or your home or your hair. There are enough decor, hair, makeup, closet organizing blogs out there. Keep doing YOUR thing because its AWESOME!!!

  8. I love your blog and find it very refreshing compared to other fashion blogs out there. I work in a corporate business environment and your blog has seriously helped me to think outside the box when I get dressed for work. I disagree with some of the comments on GOMI - I really appreciate you taking the time to adjust inspiration photos to work within a real wardrobe. Some of us just don't have that creativity! I also appreciate the simplistic style of your blog, the focus doesn't stray from the reason we're all here - to see stylish, attainable outfits. Perfect blog for the working gal! Keep it up.

  9. I never knew GOMI existed. I like the way it's written but it's way too much reading for my brief morning internet reading escapades.

With that said, I like your blog a lot. As others have said, it's simple and very appropriate. I don't mind that you don't have a head, but I figured you must be really pretty.

I like seeing the inspiration photo because, many of those sites, I've been to but I fail to see those pictures as inspiration. It has helped me to pay more attention to ad pics on websites as inspiration rather than a requirement to buy all those pieces to achieve that look. I hope that made sense :p

  10. I have to say I REALLY enjoy your blog. I love your sense of style, I actually don't mind that your comments are brief and the fact you don't show your face, hair and makeup is OK with me (plus it provides you with a little privacy). Please keep doing what you are doing. There are many of us out here that LOVE your blog :)

  11. Don't change a thing! I visit your site daily. I agree with someone who said that the inspiration photos are great because, like them, I might dismiss something as too...much, weird, whatever...but then I see how you incorporate aspects to make outfits much more wearable. Keep doing what you're doing!

  12. Seriously??!!! I love your blog, it is one of the highlights of my day. I think you are amazing for doing everything you do. Keep up the great work.

  13. I found your site last week via Pinterest and LOVE it. I seriously have been checking daily to help me get dressed. Don't get down on yourself, I think this site is so much help and I love your style.

  14. Yes, I agree. I love your blog. It doesn't matter to me that you don't show your face or hair. I get a lot of inspiration from your posts. I've been able to really understand how to put things together better and see what things I am missing. So for what it's worth I think you are the best inspiration blog on the Internet.

  15. This is my favorite blog to visit everyday, and there are quite a few on my daily check in list. Your outfits are down to earth, recreatable and lovely. I've flat out copied you any number of times. And don't worry about not showing your face, it's just nosy people who want to know what you look like. Keep up the fabulous work!

  16. I love your blog - I've only just started reading it in the last month or so, but all of your outfits are so achievable! I've been in a clothes rut when it comes to work clothes (and if I'm being realistic, all my other clothes too) for at least a year. I love seeing how you put together different outfits, and it makes me think about my wardrobe in a different way - I'm also starting to compile a list of must-have items based off of your posts. Thanks for all the great content!!

  17. I agree with Angela your blog is one of the highlights of my day. I just entered the work field so your blog has help me pull a lot of ideas together. Keep up the good work.

  18. Don't listen to GOMI. I love that you don't prattle on about your home life/hair/makeup/whatever. It's strictly outfits, and that's awesome. Plus, I totally respect your decision not to show your face. I've used your site many mornings to help me decide what to wear, and I love that you can search outfits by color. Keep on rocking on - don't change because some GOMI bitches don't like you.

  19. I found you on GOMI too, and have added you to my reader.

Don't let people tell you GOMI is all "haterz" - it's not. There is some really good constructive criticism there. It's like anything else - you have to be able to discern what's really just someone snarking for snark's sake, and what you can take away.

(I also don't mind the 'no head shot' thing. Totally understandable.)

Some of us "GOMI bitches" actually DO like you - so take your comments with the proverbial grain of salt.

  20. I found your blog via Pinterest a couple of weeks ago and love it. I read several other blogs that are similar, but yours is my favorite. I work in a professional setting as well, so you have given me a lot of ideas on how to mix things up but still look professional. Since reading it I have been on the hunt for a new mustard cardigan and pencil skirt. And your travel segments were fantastic, so helpful to show how to mix and match! Keep up the good work, I check this daily!

  21. I, too, really love your blog. I discovered it a little over a month ago and I now check it every morning! I love that the outfits are realistic and use some pieces I already have in my closest and others that I think would now be a good purchase for me. Keep doing what you're doing!

  22. I was one of the posters in the GOMI thread, but I don't think you should change anything about your blog! I also appreciate your focus on your outfits, and I really do think you pull them off well. It takes a LOT of time to work on a blog, and you're doing a great job already!

  23. Thanks to your blog, I was able to go shopping and find great casual/work outfits after having a baby. I had been so frustrated because I couldn't find anything that fit nicely postpartum. Seeing the photos of your outfits gave me great combo ideas and I was able to find a lot of great pieces that would work for me.

I looked at that hater site you were mentioned on and I could not believe that adult women actually sit there and whine and complain about blogs they don't like. Wow! I guess some people have a lot of time on their hands! Why don't they just stop reading the blogs and put themselves out of misery? The complainers act as if the blogger owes them something, which I find totally weird!

As far as you only posting a few sentences or not taking pictures of your head... who cares! I love your outfits and that is what the blog is about. Keep doing what you're doing and don't cave in to idiotic complaints.

  24. I came to your blog because I saw the GOMI thread which in the main seemed quite positive and bravo to you for handling it with such grace. There are many who would not I suspect!

My heart did sink a little over the headless blogger bit because I am a fellow headless blogger. Not for privacy reasons as anyone who knew me would know instantly from the clothes that it was my blog. It's mainly so that I don't have smile/pose/worry about my hair/makeup - sometimes I'm frowning at my daugher as she pulls books off the shelf, other times I'm laughing at her as she dances about in front of the mirror. Having a 17 month old running around means I take my pictures quickly and find it easier to just crop my head out.

I've added a few blogs to my reader that were posted in the GOMI Fashion Bloggers Forum, it seems to be a great way to come across lesser known (to me) bloggers. I don't post there myself but it's not all bad as I'm sure you'll discover.

    Best wishes from the UK!

I'm so flattered & happy that you have found the daily outfit snapshots interesting & useful enough to visit this blog. It's so fun to have a hobby that other people can share & enjoy with you. It's very much appreciated!!

Thank you thank you thank you!!! :)

  26. I'm a blog creeper and I hardly comment, but I feel the need to say how much I love your blog. It's simple and easy to navigate all the things I'm looking for in a fashion blog. And you've helped me shop my closet and find new outfits! <3

  27. I have commented once before about really enjoying your blog and my comment still stands. I looked at the GOMI thread yesterday and I didn't see any horrible comments about your blog (especially by GOMI standards) so I think you're doing something right.

Your blog is refreshing because you just seem like a normal person who wants to put a little more effort into getting dressed every day without taking out a second mortgage to sport designer duds. I totally appreciate that! I also love that you bust out clothes you've had for years. That's the thing I can't stand about most style blogs -- the constant pressure they seem to be under to spend, spend, spend.

As for your style being boring, um, that's perfect for this reader. There's no way I can show up to my corporate gig donning dangly arm parties, zebra print mixed with polka dots, etc., etc. I like your mix of professional and weekend wear. And although I'm sure you're an awesome, fun person, I am totally OK with just seeing what you wear as opposed to learning about your life outside of the blog. This blog is called Outfit Posts for a reason.

  28. I personally love your blog and have pinned many, many, many of your outfits! For people who don't like your blog - how about stop reading! There are plenty of us who love it and find inspiration in your posts.

  29. I have to add to what everyone else had said, I love your blog and your style! I don't think you should change a thing. By not showing your face, hair, house, etc, you've focused in on your fashion, which is what this blog is all about. Your style has completely inspired me. Thank you!

  30. Yay! Thank you soooo much! I really appreciate all the sweet comments. It's super great to hear that some people find the blog useful! Makes me feel very warm & fuzzy! :)
