outfit post: graphic black and white top, blue cropped pants, black cardigan

Inspiration - Putting Me Together

One of my absolute favorite blogs is Audrey of Putting Me Together. She does an amazing job of breaking down individual elements of personal style with multiple posts on things like how to wear one piece many ways and advice on building a re-mixable wardrobe. So much good stuff!

On Oct 1 she wrote a post about how to introduce colored pants into your wardrobe if you're intimidated by them (read it here). I adored the outfit she used in her example and realized that I have all the pieces I would need to recreate it! (Including this graphic blouse that I haven't found a way to wear previously.) So I did just that and I love it! Thanks Audrey!

  3. Love the outfit. I loved it in Audrey's blog as well. I bought a pair of red cropped pants this spring from the Gap and I adore them. You can see them in my blog as they have been featured many times.

  4. Oooh, thanks for posting her blog!

I really do love this look. I saw some adorable cropped pants at Target the other day, all in beautiful, vibrant colors. However, I'm still a bit scared to branch out like that, but your post (and hers) has inspired me. I think I'll try red!

  5. I found your blog whilst searching for reviews of the J Crew Tippi cardigan. Your blog is my new favorite place to go for outfit inspiration! Well, my *only* place to go... because, truth be told, I'm actually not often looking for cute outfit ideas since I work from home :) I'm completely clueless when it comes to fashion and I love that you've paired a lot of simple pieces that I would have never thought of- great ways to mix and match items I probably already have. Thanks for sharing all your wonderful photos and ideas!

  6. I just love your blog because your outfits are always ensembles I could actually wear! No crazy mixes of various patterns or wildly expensive items :) I just recently bought some cobalt pants so I'm excited to wear them!

  7. Thank you guys so much for the kind words! Sometimes I wonder if anyone will want to read this blog because it's so 'normal' and not high fashion/aspirational. But it's how I actually dress plus a little experimenting. So it's super great to hear you are enjoying it. :)

  8. Hi Mary Kate! Thanks for linking to me. I feel so honored! I've gotta say, I love your blog and your style! I saw you comment above that you wonder if anyone would want to read your blog because it's "normal" and not high fashion, and that's exactly how I feel about my blog! But I just have to remind myself to be who I am, and also that the people who crave high fashion have plenty of other blogs to read. There are normal women in the world who want to look cute too, and you do a great job of it!
